World Around Us
The World Around Us throughout all stages is planned to connect learning across the three areas mentioned above. Children are provided with opportunities to develop their Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Critical and Creative Thinking, Personal and Interpersonal Skills through a choice of topics. At all stages children are encouraged to become active participants in the learning process, linking learning to current events.
Our World Around Us is taught using a cycle of topics to cater for the composite nature of our classes. This ensures that each pupil is experiencing new, inspiring and interesting topics at all stages of their primary school journey. Some of our topics taught throughout the school include ‘Houses and Homes’, ‘Space and the Solar System’, ‘Myself’, ‘Transport’, ‘Victorians’, ‘World War Two’, ‘Flight and Bridges’, ‘The Titanic’ to name only a few.
